About Us
Mandy Shaw
I have owned Mandy’s House childminding since 2000, and my pre-school provision;
Mandy’s Little Diamonds ran for three years, 2017 till 2019. I have seen many changes in childcare regulations and standards during this time. However, some things don’t change, like compassion and understanding of children’s personal, social and emotional development, which has always been at the heart of my business.
If you desire sensitive understanding from an emotionally connected carer, if you would like your child to be able to grow and develop as an independent little person and be able to explore and grow at their own pace then I can help!
I believe every child should be allowed to follow their own interests from an early age and I work hard to do just that. I plan our day and the resources on offer to suit the age and stage of development of each individual child. Skills like problem solving, literacy, physical development and communication are interwoven into every day activities. Learning through play is central to a child’s experience whilst in my care.
My aim and the ethos of my child care business is that by
‘Helping a child to become empathetic to others and enthusiastic for learning with a strong positive sense of self is key to success in life’ (Shaw, A 2000)
How we play (and learn)
Under my watchful eye children flourish in all areas of development including socially, emotionally, physically and academically. Children actively engage with the many activities and resources on offer here and as a result you can expect to see your child make progress in all areas of learning, grow in self-confidence and develop social skills whilst in the care of myself .
Amongst the many activities on offer you can expect your child to regularly engage with; craft activities, storytelling and imagination games, role play and dressing up, board games and puzzles as well as singing, dancing and physical activities in the large garden. For the very youngest of children I ensure that caring, close bonds are formed enabling the child to thrive in a warm and comforting environment. Experienced with babies as young as a few months old I understand how vital this initial relationship is in ensuring positive development in all areas.
My Provisions
Mandy’s House Childminding offers a caring, professional, sensitive and safe degree qualified childcare provision. I provide child led and adult supported learning through play in a home setting.
Building on the cornerstone of personal, social and emotional development children attending my provision can expect a welcoming and well resourced home from home experience and will be supported to thrive in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

I am authorised and able to accept the 15 and 30 hours

Provision update
Due to a change in business circumstances my pre-school provision is no longer running. However to demonstrate my knowledge and experiences I have kept the information here for your perusal.
I continue to provide my childcare service in my home setting, and look forward to hearing from you.
